Nightmare creature

The Nightmare creature is one of the enemies in Immure. There is no name given for the creature in the demo. It is, however, the only creature encountered in the "Nightmare" portion of the demo.

Locations

  • First unnamed hallway: first encountered after opening the left side of the hallway and entering it for the first time.

Strategy

Bound Nightmare creature

This creature usually likes to go straight for the kill if Will gets within reach, and attacks by consuming Will's head. Sometimes if Will reacts fast enough, he will merely be knocked to the ground instead.

When first encountered, Will has no offensive options against the creature and must rely instead on avoidance. Complicating that is a need to circumvent the creature twice to advance to the next stage of the confrontation: first, to acquire the Strange Key from the left side, and next to use that key to exit via the locked door on the right side. There are two simple options for this:

  • Will may simply hide in one of the coffins until the creature passes.
  • Will may wait for the creature to enter the open area in the center, and then use one of the doors immediately to either side of that area to essentially teleport to the other door. Note that the right door is missing at first, but appears immediately after Will first hears the creature's scream.
Unearthly Dagger use

Exiting through the locked door returns Will to the same hallway, though it is changed, and the creature has somehow been bound to the central pillars in the open area. But using the door to teleport to the left, Will can find a glyph to charge the Shining Trapezohedron. He can then use that to release a pulse that will stun the creature long enough for Will to return the right and a new exit that appears there. Unfortunately, the creature gets free shortly after this.

The exit to the right is now connected to a matching exit on the left side of the hallway. Will needs to pick up the Unearthly Dagger now accessible shortly ahead and then charge the Trapezohedron again. The creature can then be stunned and defeated with the dagger. It takes a moment to release the stunning pulse, so it's best to start when the creature sounds very close, but isn't yet in view.
